SURFACES REPORTER'S ARCHITECT-DESIGNER of the WEEK are video episodes that engage a person of substance from the fields of architecture, interior designing, or product design, in informal and up-close interaction. SR's Architect of this week is RAHUL KADRI this week. He will be in a conversation with Vertica Dvivedi, Editor-in-Chief, SURFACES REPORTER.

Ar Rahul Kadri is the partner & principal architect at I.M.Kadri Architects, a 62-year-old firm, started by his father IM Kadri in the year 1958.

As an Architect, Senior Kadri has left his imprint on several landmark buildings in cities of India, the Middle East, Hong Kong, Tajikistan, and other places.

One creation of Mr. Kadri even earned him an entry into the Guinness Book of Records – the world’s highest stained glass mural, 135 feet tall, at the Ramada hotel, Dubai.

Ar. Rahul Kadri spent his formative years amidst lush landscapes exploring the forests of the Kumaon Himalayas while studying at Sherwood College in Nainital. This early relationship with nature infused within him, a deep passion to create buildings & spaces, which are in harmony with its natural context.

He completed his diploma in architecture from the Academy Of Architecture, Mumbai, and went on to pursue his master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

He assumed directorship of Kadri Consultants Pvt. Ltd in 1995 and since then has designed townships for Tata’s, Jindal’s & Reliance, Hotels & Resorts for Taj & Club Mahindra, College Campuses for Symbiosis & The Supreme Court Of India and more.

Apart from his engagement with architecture, Ar Kadri is actively involved in proposals for the effective development of open spaces in Mumbai.
